Ben Marion Davis Sr.'s Obituary
Ben Marion Davis, Sr. of Dallas, TX; my beloved dad passed away June 21, 2017. Dad was 85 but always swore that he would make it to a 100, little did he know that God had bigger plans for him. He’s now with my mom; his wife Joan of 65 years and my brother Richard. To know Dad was to love him; he made hundreds of friends during his life time; he was my best friend and a great dad and I miss him greatly. Born in Greenville, TX to Francis and Lockie Davis in 1931, Dad met Mom (Joan) at East Texas State Univ., they married in July 1951 then moved to Marshall, TX where they had two sons, Ben Jr. (me) and Richard (deceased) and was the city’s Chief Electrical Inspector. In 1962, the family moved to Dallas, TX where he became a Sales Engineer for Westinghouse and then for AMP corp. until his retirement at the approx. age of 65. Mom retired from teaching school after 35 years, most of that time with DISD. Dad was a Mason for over 65 years with the Marshall Lodge, etc. and had just received recognition for his 65 years of continuous membership with the International Association of Electrical Inspectors. Dad cared very much about his community, serving on city council citizen committees, as a multi term president of his White Rock Lake neighbor assoc., as a longtime volunteer with the National Women’s Museum at Fair Park, the Boy Scouts, and many, many others. Arrangements: Visitation is scheduled for Monday, June 26th; 5:30 – 8:30 PM at Restland Funeral Home of Dallas. Graveside services and a Masonic funeral is scheduled for Tuesday morning June 27th at 10:00 AM at the family’s plot at the Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home Cemetery of Dallas. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the National Heart Assoc. would be greatly appreciated. Son; Ben Davis Jr; ben.davisjr100@yahoo.com 972-345-5121 Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
