Benjamin Harry Lewis Jr., age 81, of The Colony, Texas, passed away on October 13, 2025. Born in Kansas City, Kansas, on July 27, 1944, to Benjamin Harry Lewis Sr. and Ruth Hereford, Ben lived a life full of creativity, curiosity, and devotion to his family.
In August 1964, he married Melody Ann Handley, beginning a lifelong partnership built on love and shared adventures. Ben was a man of many interests, known for his remarkable model train displays that captured the charm and detail of small-town life. His passion for building extended to intricate LEGO sets and wooden 3D puzzles, each project a reflection of his patience and imagination.
Aviation was another of Ben’s great loves. He spent time as a pilot for skydivers, attended countless air shows, and never lost his fascination with flight. On the ground, he also enjoyed tinkering with electrical gadgets and riding motorcycles. He was also a volunteer for Project Linus.
Above all, Ben will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Melody Ann Handley; daughter Tammi Douglas; sons Benjamin Harry Lewis III and Justin Scott Lewis; grandchildren Bradley Holcomb, Brittany Holcomb, Tanner Lewis, Mason Lewis, Colton Lewis, Reese Lewis, and Holden Lewis; and great-grandchildren Austin Holcomb and Brayden Holcomb.
