Bernard Dennin McGrath, 94, of Dallas, TX, died November 10, 2020. He was born December 11, 1925 to Edward McGrath and May Dennin McGrath in Newark, NJ. He married Marna Darst on January 27, 1950 in Akron, OH.
After serving in the U.S. Army during WWII then earning a degree in geology from Union College in Schenectady, NY, Bernard’s professional career was in the oil & gas industry. He started out as a geologist with Texaco, completing a 30-year tenure there in upper management. He joined Triton Oil & Gas as one of their executives for a decade before retiring.
Bernard is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Edward. He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Marna, his children Marsha McGrath and husband Drew Marcks, Diane McGrath, Tom McGrath and wife Donna McGrath, and Joan McGrath. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Christine McGrath, Connor McGrath and Ana Marcks, as well as his sister, Ethel Meola.
He was an avid golfer and bowler into his 80’s, and with his wife and family, a world traveler. Incredibly intelligent, with a wonderful sense of humor, quick wit and tremendous ethics, Bernard was a role model for those who knew him. While he was an accomplished and successful man, his roles as loving husband and father were most important to him. He will be missed and remembered with love always.
