Bernhard Smith's Obituary
SMITH, BERNHARD THEODORE “TED” Loving husband, father, and retired business executive passed away on February 14, 2007, after a lengthy illness. Ted was born in Roosevelt, NY on March 2, 1922, moved to Metairie, LA at a very young age, graduated from Metairie High School, and received a BS in Public Administration from Tulane University. He served faithfully in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was active in the American Legion, DAV, and the Air Force Association. After a notable 37 year federal career, he started a highly successful consulting firm. For many years Ted was an effective board member of Community Christian Concern, and was an active member of the Good Ole Metairie Boys Organization, where he enjoyed many years of social activities. He is survived by his beloved wife, Doris,; three children, daughters Karen Carroll, Lesley Foster, and son Gary Smith; four grandchildren, Shelly Brescher, Mark Traina, Emily Smith, and Sarah Smith; two great grandchildren, Claire and Camille Brescher; and many loving nieces and nephews. Services will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church on Spring Creek Pkwy. in Plano, TX on Monday, February 19, 2007, including visitation at 10:00 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM, with interment at Restland Memorial Park.
