Bernice Marie Robertson's Obituary
ROBERTSON, BERNICE MARIE was born to Leona Pearl Barker and Edd Eugene Robertson on May 26, 1912 in Dodd City, Texas. She passed away January 16, 2013 in Dallas, Texas. Bernice obtained her early education in Bonham. She received degrees in 1940 (Elementary Education) and 1952 (Masters in Education) from the University of North Texas. Bernice enjoyed teaching first grade for over 35 years. Her first school was Byers, Texas and then Burkburnett. She had an opportunity to go to Highland Park in 1940 where she retired in 1975 from Robert S. Hyer Elementary School. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Omicron for 58 years. Bernice was a member of the Highland Park United Methodist Church since 1955. She was very active and taught Sunday school for many years. She was preceded in death by sisters, Daisy Whittenburg, Oma Jewell DeLashaw, Marion Durham and Mary Ann Ingram and brothers, Leeman and Raymond Robertson. She is survived by brothers Lloyd and Floyd Robertson of Bonham, Texas, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Services will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, January 20, 2013 at Restland Abbey Chapel with visitation from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM, prior to the service.
