Bert Bateman's Obituary
Bert Bateman, age 81, died at his home in Pottsboro, Texas on Sunday, October 25, 2009. He was born May 6, 1928, in Coryell County, Texas and graduated from Iredell, Texas High School. On June 10, 1950, he was united in marriage to his beloved Bert and Lucy moved to Dallas in 1950 where they both worked for the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. Bert retired from Bell in 1983. Upon retirement, Bert and Lucy moved to their retirement home on Lake Texoma in the town of Pottsboro, Texas. The years in Pottsboro were filled with many days of fishing, traveling across the United States in their motor home, and developing long-term friendships with their neighbors in Lazy Acres. Bert is survived by his brother, Steve Bateman, of Iredell, Texas; nephews Wayne Bateman, Goodyear, Arizona; Larry Bateman, Wea- therford, Texas; David Anderhub, Waxahachie, Texas; and Kenneth Parker, Lancaster Texas; sister-in-law Julia Nell Parker, Lancaster, Texas; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy, on June 3, 2009 and by his parents, Bryan Bateman and Cora Richardson Bateman. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon, Wednesday, October 28, at Abbey Chapel at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas. Burial will be in Restland Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be at the Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave., on Tuesday, October 27 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Donations may be made to Home Hospice of Grayson County, 505 W.
