Bertha Burns' Obituary
Burns, Bertha M., 87, widow of Hubert E. Burns, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2017, at Mayfair Manor. Ms. Burns married Hubert Burns, a U.S. Air Force Veteran, and traveled the world with her family during Mr. Burns’ assignments. They ended up in Dallas, TX where Ms. Burns’ interest in interior design grew into a full-time career. A high light of her career was when one of her customer’s home interior was extensively displayed in Texas Monthly Magazine. She later retired to Lexington, KY where her son Sonny and his wife Pat had gone into business. There she pursued a love of gardening and watercolor painting. Survivors include a son, William “Sonny” (Pat) Bates and their children Jeremy and Bryan; three daughters, Barbara P. (Ray) Duke and their children Jeff and Rhonda, Jan (Woody) Mullen and their children Heather and Erica, and Cindy L. Landguth and her children Heather, Christopher, and Noah; and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Paul L. Burns. A gathering of family and friends will be 5:30 – 7:30 pm Thursday, Aug. 3, 2017, at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Rd. Burial will be next to her husband in Restland Memorial Park in Dallas, TX on Saturday, Aug. 12, at 10 a.m.
