Bertha Marie Walker's Obituary
Bertha Marie Walker, 94, was born on July 19, 1923 in Bosco, Louisiana to the late Lufelt and Irma Rebecca Saulsberry. She graduated from Monroe Colored High School, Monroe, Louisiana.She gave her life to Christ at an early age, was baptized and became a member of Cuba Missionary Baptist Church in Bosco, Louisiana.She met the love of her life, Famous Walker, and soon after they met, they married. Famous worked for John and Betty Brown who owned the Brown Paper Mill in Monroe, Louisiana when he met Bertha. After they met, she began working for them as well. They moved to Dallas in 1957 and Bertha continued to work for the Brown’s for sixty years until she retired at age 80.Bertha, (Muh), loved to cook, enjoyed gardening and helping people in any way possible. Bertha was the type of person that even when she was hurting and not feeling well, she thanked you and said I love you regardless of who you were.On Thursday, August 31, 2017, Muh went to be with the Lord. She was preceded in death by her husband, Famous Walker; mother, Irma Rebecca Saulsberry; and aunt Elvie Smith.Bertha (Muh) leaves to cherish her memories her only daughter Virgilia (Jill) Marie Watson; three granddaughters: Georgia Bell Ford, Valencia Michele Metcalf and Demetria LeShun Watson; eight great grandchildren: Dennis Ford, Demetric Jackson, Gemessia Hudson, Ashley Watson, Christina Metcalf, Deja Bates, Danielle Metcalf and Zion Watson; one great great granddaughter llyvia Hudson.The family would like to thank all of the medical staff at Traymore Nursing Home, UT Southwestern University Hospital, Lifecare Hospitals and Legends Hospice. We personally want to thank, Dr. Lauren McDonald, Dr. Levy and Dr. Kevin Longshaw for giving her the best care possible.Visitation will be held on Friday, September 8, 2017 from 6-8p.m. at Restland Funeral Home in Memorial Chapel. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 11a.m., also at Memorial Chapel, Restland Funeral Home with interment to follow at Restland Memorial Park.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
