Lanzillo, Bessie Jean's Obituary
Bessie Jean Lanzillo, 92, of Richardson, Texas passed away on November 10, 2024. Jean was born July 24, 1932, in Byhalia, Mississippi.
Jean loved her family, and it was the most important thing in her life. While raising her children, away from her parents and sisters, it was important that one holiday each winter and one summer week each year were spent together so family trips could be shared with her parents and her sister's families in Tennessee and sometimes in North Carolina.
Our mother retired from General Electric in 1993. Having a work ethic to be modeled on, Jean earned multiple awards for being the top sales leader in GE's lamp division.
Jean enjoyed a healthy competitive lifestyle playing bridge and bowling in city, state and national tournaments and even won the Texas State amateur championship when she wasn't caring for her family.
To her children, she was a hero, a great mother, and a friend. She also enjoyed the company of her beloved dogs, Rusty, Spencer and most recently, Snuggles, who is now with her son Chris.
Jean believed that each day should start with a good breakfast and for her, it would include bacon, eggs, biscuits, and a hot cup of coffee.
Jean will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents Daniel and Lurline Shaw, her loving husband John J. Lanzillo Jr, her sister Shirley Reeder and her puppies Rusty and Spencer.
Jean is survived by her sister, Peggy (Jim), children; John J Lanzillo, III (Jan) Regina Lynn Embry, Christopher Shawn Lanzillo (DeLynda), her grandchildren; Bryan Lee Embry, Elizabeth Jean Embry (Justin), John J Lanzillo IV (Holly), Robert "Bobby" Travis Lanzillo, Chance William Lanzillo (Laura), her great grandchildren; ZeeAnna Embry, Rachel Godbey (Chandler), Carley Hoeffner, Isabella “Bella” Embry, John J Lanzillo V, Ara Winkleman, Renner Winkleman and many more nieces and nephews. And last, but not least, her beloved Snuggles.
