Bethel Lorraine Anderson's Obituary
Bethel L. Anderson, 88, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, August 12, 2020.
Bethel was born in Loup City, Nebraska on June 1, 1932 to L.A. Garner and Lenore Garner. She grew up in several small towns throughout Nebraska, until moving to Waxahachie, Texas as a teenager. She graduated from Southwestern Assemblies of God High School,Waxahachie, Texas in 1950.
While attending Southwestern A/G High School, she met Floyd W. Anderson, and on June 24 1950, they were married.
After spending the first year of their marriage living in Waxahachie, Floyd joined the Navy in 1951, and they moved to Havre de Grace, Maryland, where they spent the next 4 years. While living in Havre de Grace, Bethel worked office jobs at the Havre de Grace Proving Grounds. Following Floyd’s discharge from the Navy, they moved to Denton, Texas, where they lived for the next several years, making many life-long friends. During that time Bethel worked office jobs at LTV in Dallas. In 1962, they moved to Temple, Texas, where they lived for 2 years. While living in Temple, Bethel gave birth to their only child, Paul William Anderson, on June 19, 1962. In 1963, Floyd took a job at Texas Instruments, and they moved to Garland, Texas, where they lived for more than 40 years. Bethel chose to be a stay-at-home mother until their son graduated from high school. During retirement, Floyd and Bethel lived for a time in Terrell, Texas, and Carrollton, Tx.
Bethel had three passions in life - her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, her family, and playing the piano. She began playing the piano as a young girl and continued to play throughout her life. Throughout the years, she played faithfully at many of the churches her family attended. She often said her favorite times playing the piano at church, were a time of 13 years when she played the piano and her son Paul played the drums at North Central Assemblies of God and North Mesquite Assemblies of God churches. She continued playing the piano through the years, even playing often for her fellow residents at Cottonwood Creek Healthcare until the time of her passing.
Bethel is preceded in death by her mother Lenore Garner, her father L.A. Garner, husband Floyd Anderson, and many close friends. She is survived by her son Paul Anderson and his wife Diane, grandson Alexey Anderson (21), granddaughter Amanda Anderson (13), her sister Virginia Marshall and husband Harold, her brother Ted Garner and wife Charlotte, seven nieces and nephews, and many extended family and dear friends.
