Betsy Bell Haggard's Obituary
HAGGARD, BETSY BELL HARRINGTON, 90, of Plano died peacefully in her sleep July 12, 2013. She was a lifelong resident of Plano and was born to the late Midge and Madge Harrington July 24, 1922 in Plano. Betsy attended Plano schools when there were only eleven grades in one building. She liked all sports and played basketball, tennis and baseball. She graduated from Plano High School in 1940. They were one of the largest classes with 55 graduates. She was also a homecoming queen for the Plano Wildcats football team. Betsy belonged to the First Baptist Church of Plano and continued education at Baylor University in Waco, Texas. She became engaged to John Haggard, who was attending TCU and they were married July 11, 1944 at the First Baptist Church in Plano. John and Betsy were members of the First Christian Church in Plano, where she was an active member of the Christian Women’s Fellowship. She is survived by her husband, John Yates Haggard; son, Eddie Ray Haggard; daughter, Jennie Haggard Little and her husband Jim Little; and grandsons, Jeff Little and wife Haley Little of Frisco, TX and Jon Little of Plano, TX. Graveside services will be held at 11:00AM, Monday, July 15, 2013 at Restland Memorial Park. Memorials may be made in memory of Betsy Haggard to the First Christian Church of Plano, 813 E. 15th Street, Plano, Texas 75075.
