Bettie Jane Bailey's Obituary
Born July 31, 1924 in Waco, TX to Tom and Jane Epperson. She moved to Dallas at age 2 and She was enrolled in Cradle Roll at First Baptist Church Dallas where she continued to attend Sunday School for 88 years. Bettie was Baptized on Mother’s Day in 1936 by Dr. George W. Truitt. She has had 3 pastors Dr. George W. Truitt, Dr. W.A. Chriswell, and Dr. Robert Jeffress. Bettie taught and was Superintendent of Primary Sunday School for 20 years. Her favorite Bible verse is Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”Bettie was preceded in death by her husband Charles E Bailey and her son Charles E Bailey Jr. (Eddie)Bettie graduated from North Dallas High School and attended TSCW in Denton until she married Charles on Nov 2, 1942. They had two children Charles E Bailey Jr and Sandra K Bailey McKinley. Bettie enjoyed her busy life raising two children, being active in church activities, and when time allowed needlepointing, sewing and traveling.After her children were grown, she and Charles traveled a great deal including multiple trips to Europe, and a trip around the World. They traveled to all 50 states, most in their Foretravel motorhome. Bettie also enjoyed entertaining at their Cedar Creek Lake home.Her last place of residence was Prestonwood Rehab and Nursing, where she recovered from a fall in her home that broke her neck. During her hospitalization and long rehab she was very grateful and appreciative of her Sunday School Class and friends for their prayers, cards, notes, visits, phone calls, and expressions of love.Most of all Bettie loved the Lord, her husband Charles, her son Eddie, her daughter Sandie and son-in-law John and her many friends.The family requests that visiting hours for Bettie Bailey be observed on Friday, December 21, 2018 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM in the Abbey Chapel at Restland Funeral Home.
