Bettie Jane Long's Obituary
LONG, BETTIE JANE WARD Bettie Jane Ward Long died peacefully in her sleep on February 3, 2007, and went to live eternally with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Born October 5, 1920, to Lucy Savannah and Samuel Ernest Ward, Bettie had been courageously living with Alzheimer’s disease for several years. The family is comforted to know that now she can clearly see and understand the beauty of Heaven as she is reunited with her sister, Sammielu Wilson, and her mother and daddy. Bettie had been a member of the First Baptist Church in Dallas since 1929, where she faithfully taught 3-year-olds in Sunday School for 35 years, as well as being involved in other church ministries, including the Caregivers Class. She was retired from the Union Pacific Railroad and had enjoyed being a member of the Echo Luncheon Club. Bettie was also a member of the General Levi Casey Chapter of the DAR and enjoyed studying genealogy and spending time with family. Bettie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lucy and Scott Broyles of McKinney, granddaughter Amye Broyles of Dallas, granddaughter Emily and husband Fred McDonald, and great granddaughter, Savannah Jane McDonald of Dallas. Bettie’s life showed God’s grace and mercy and lovingkindness to all who knew her. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 PM, Tuesday, February 6, 2007 at Restland Funeral Home.
