Betty D. Ackley's Obituary
Betty D Acklely, 92, passed away peacefully in her sleep in her apartment with her husband David Ackley early January 27, 2022 while under hospice care.
Betty was born on May 1, 1931 in Jacksonville Texas to Cleo and Conley Denton. She graduated from Winsboro Texas High School in 1948. After graduation, she worked in Oklahoma City for Traveler’s Insurance till she joined the Navy as a Teleman in 1952. After leaving the Navy in 1956 she joined Texas Instruments (TI) in Dallas Texas in their telecommunications department. While at TI she met me her husband, David Ackley. We got married on June 1962 in Poughkeepsie, New York where we owned our first home. TI moved us back to and around in Texas where we lived in Austin, Murphy, Richardson, Houston, and Plano. Betty and I liked to travel so we went to England, Ireland, Alaska, Australia, Hawaii, Fiji, Mexico, plus almost all the states in the US.
Betty was a truly wonderful, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved and was truly loved by her family and friends. She will be sorely missed by those who survived her: her husband, David, her daughters, Kimberly Potthoff and Karen Dempsey, her son, Keith Ackley, and her grandchildren, Amber Ackley, David Potthoff, Michael Potthoff, Krystal Rankin, Brandon Davis, and Kalaeb Lynch, and her great-grandchildren, Ava Potthoff, Evan Potthoff, , Knox Potthoff, Rayanan Rankin, Taylor Rankin, Elia Rankin, Ethan Rankin, Brayden Jeter, Luke Davis, Benjamin Davis, and Baylor Davis, as well as other extended family and friends.
Rather than flowers, Betty would appreciate people donating to the juvenile diabetes research foundation JDRF (jdrf.org).
