Betty Sue Appleby's Obituary
APPLEBY, BETTY SUE Of Dallas, Texas, Age 78, passed away on May 8, 2011 after suffering a brain aneurysm. Sue was born on September 6, 1932 in Taylor, Texas. She was a graduate of Henderson High School and Kilgore College, where she was an outstanding Rangerette for 2 years. She performed in many events including New Years Day parades and 2 Cotton Bowl halftimes, for the legendary Gussie Nell Davis. She married Elvin B. Appleby, Jr. in October of 1952. She was a longtime employee of DISD as an administrative assistant retiring in the early 1990’s. Afterwards she was an active volunteer at her church including United Methodist Women and Meals on Wheels. A devoted wife and mother, she took great pride in knowing that both of her children earned degrees from Texas A&M University. She also was especially proud of her grandchildren. Preceded in death by her father, Nathaniel Nelson; mother, Lena Nelson; brother, Floyd Nelson; and husband Elvin B. Appleby, Jr. Survived by son, David Appleby and wife Vicki of Frisco, TX; daughter, Nancy Bell and husband Mike of Irving, TX; and her grandchildren, Alexa and Chase of Frisco, TX. Services will be held at 11:00am, Thursday, May 12, 2011 at Schreiber United Methodist Church, 4525 Rickover Dr., Dallas, TX, with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.
