Betty Jomelda Birkhead, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and care. Born in Greenville, Mississippi to Billy Jo and Hattie Bridges, Betty was raised with strong values of kindness, generosity, and service to others.
From a young age, Betty had a heart for helping people. Her nurturing spirit led her to a fulfilling career as a Certified Nursing Assistant, where she dedicated over 20 years to caring for others with grace and dignity. Her patients and colleagues alike were touched by her warmth, her tireless work ethic, and her empathy.
Betty was preceded in death by her loving parents, Billy Jo and Hattie Bridges.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Darrin Thompson; her cherished children, TaDosheia Bridges, Larrionshae Birkhead, and Larry Birkhead; and her adored grandchildren, Takhara Bridges, Javaris White, Armoni Birkhead, Amaya Birkhead, Kashton Johnson, and Khyrie Johnson. She also leaves behind her dear sister, Dominique Bridges, and her stepchildren, Destanie Logan (John), Raekwon Drake, Diamon Gutcher, and Darrin Thompson Jr.
Betty’s life was a testament to love, resilience, and selflessness. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and her memory will continue to inspire those whose lives she touched.
