Betty Brewton's Obituary
Betty Pearl Redmon Brewton
2/14/1928-5/28/2024
She took her last earthly breath peacefully in the early afternoon on Tuesday, May 28th 2024.
Forever strong, Betty lived a full life of 96 years. She was born on Valentine's Day...a day of love...and truly loved people with an open heart. She had an intelligent mind, quick wit, a generous and empathetic heart, and could find the humor in practically any situation life presented. She is a gift and blessing in life and in death...her spirit shines through her work of 40 years with the Small Business Administration (SBA) and her loved ones...eternally.
Dusk at the Amethyst Gateway is dedicated to Betty's memory.
"Dusk at the Amethyst Gateway
Born in the age of Aquarius, purple the color of her birthstone. A mix of red and blue, unto herself she was always true.
Her mother, Pearl, nearly died in childbirth. Waiting anxiously, yet patiently, her father, Harrel, farmed the earth. Country neighbors took her home and named her Betty Pearl. She was the family's fifth little girl.
The year was 1928, with world events happening far from Heaven's gate. Growing up with the Dust Bowl, the Great Depression and the world in turmoil, Betty missed school days to pick cotton from the dry Texas soil.
After graduation, she decided to leave her unpainted house on the street with no name. From that point on her life would never be the same. Betty journeyed to the big city of Dallas to start a new life...perhaps even to become someone's wife.
From there, too much of a story to tell. Let's just say...lives were lived well. People and places came and went, now our precious time together on Earth is spent. As much as I want her to stay, I know that it is Dusk at the Amethyst Gateway."
Betty is survived by her daughter, Vicki, and son-in-law, Hank Buterbaugh, her daughter-in-law, Dawn Poe, step-daughter, Kathy Brewton and her grandchildren: Courtney Graswich and her husband Jason O'Neil, Brittanie Graswich, and Trent Graswich. She was loved by her caregivers "Angel" Gerri and Stella. So many others helped her along her journey...our family's gratitude is immense. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dallas Brewton, and her beloved son, Bill Poe.
A funeral service for Betty will be held on Wednesday, June 12th, 2024, at 2pm at Restland Funeral Home 13005 Greenville Avenue, Richardson, TX 75243 with a grave side burial to follow. A memorial in her honor will be held on June 27th, 2024, at 2pm at Prestonwood Court Assisted Living, 7001 W Plano Parkway, Plano, TX 75093. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Texas ADAPT or Personal Attendant Coalition of Texas would be greatly appreciated.
