Betty Sue Burris' Obituary
Betty Sue (Hartline) Burris was born on October 12, 1929, to Julius Washington and Tommy Lee (Fry) Hartline in Red Oak, Texas. She passed away on Saturday, December 18, 2010, surrounded by family at home in Rowlett. She married Jack Burris on February 9, 1951 in Dallas. She attended school in Renner, and graduated from Plano High School. She worked at E-Systems in Garland for many years, and retired as an executive administrative assistant from Oryx Energy. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Marie, Edna, Helen; and brothers Taylor, Glen, and Cleo. She is survived by her husband Jack of the home; sister Ida Taylor of Pilot Point; sister Barbara and her husband Frank Davis of Parker; daughter Judy and her husband Luis Rey of Garland; son Gary of Arlington; JoAnne of Arlington; son Greg and his wife Terry, and son David and his wife Kelly, all of Garland. “Meemaw” had an exceptional love for each of her grandchildren: Luis Rey Jr. and his wife Ashley; Aimee (Rey) Watkins and her husband David; Carrie (Burris) Johnson and her husband Chadd, Kyle Burris; and Megan Yandell, Zane Burris, Sara Burris, and Spencer and Ally Ashworth. She loved her 6 great-grandchildren very much: Shelby, Brooklyn and Kendall Watkins; and Braylee, Bronston, and Aylon Rey. There will be a private graveside service at Restland. Visitation will be on Tuesday December 21st at 12PM, follow by the memorial service at 1PM, both at First Baptist Church, 801 West Avenue D in Garland. Memorials may be made to the Friendship House at First Baptist Church of Garland, or the American Cancer Society. Sue was very thankful and proud to be a 6-year, 10-month survivor of Stage 4 Ovarian Cancer.
