Betty Nell Clayton's Obituary
CLAYTON, BETTY NELL born July 22, 1927 in Dallas, Texas. She is survived by son, Robert Carl Clayton and wife, Jackie; grandson, Robert Alan Clayton; great grandson, Robert Jacob Clayton; great granddaughter, Abigail Grace Clayton; sister-in-law, Lill Clayton; nieces, Debra Tutt and Karen Clayton; nephew, James Robert Clayton. She was a direct descendent of PETERS COLONY colonists who settled in Carrollton, Texas. Betty graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and SMU with a BA degree. She served as President of Delta Zeta Sorority and was Delta Zeta Dream Girl. She also belonged to many SMU campus organizations, including KIRKOS for outstanding women on campus. Active in PTA at 4 schools; Acolyte Mothers Chairman in Incarnation Episcopal Church for four years, and was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church since 1992. Betty was Den Mother for Cub Scouts in 1967, 1968, and 1969. Received Cub Scout Troup Award for inspirational programs and work; active in Band Boosters Club at W. T. White High School. She was very active as member of U. S. Coast Guard Auxiliary since joining in 1979 where she served as Flotilla Commander of Flotilla 10-4 three times; served as Division 10 Information Systems Officer for 11 years, and many other staff officer positions. Received USCGA Administrative Merit Award in 1989. Was Registration Chairman for three District 8 Conferences. Loved boating and boating activities at Lake Texoma since 1974. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Friday, June 6, 2014 at Restland Funeral Home. Service will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at Restland Wildwood Chapel.
