Betty Jane Cormany's Obituary
Betty J. Cormany, 97, of Garland, TX passed away April 27, 2023, in Garland, TX. She was born June 5, 1925, to Christian and Effie Hoffman in Akron, Ohio. On December 25, 1945, she married Gale E. Cormany in Akron, Ohio. Betty is preceded in death by her husband, daughter, Sharon L. Gabric, her husband John, and her sister, Joanne H. Benfield. She is survived by her son: Dennis Cormany and his wife, Dena; granddaughters, Heather Connolly and her husband, Dara Cormany and Darcy Griffin; grandson, Jason Gabric; great grandson, Daniel Gabric; brother-in-law, George Cormany, and his wife Dorothy; nieces, Bobbie Jo Taylor, and her husband, Connie Benfield, Beth Duncan and her husband, Brenda Pfeil and her husband; nephew, Bryan Cormany; great niece, Ashley Taylor; great nephew, Austin Taylor.
Betty graduated from Akron University with an Associates in Bookkeeping. She worked for LJ Shot International, a fabric importer, as office manager and bookkeeper. In 1979, she moved from Akron, OH to Garland, TX. She was one of the founding members of the Firewheel Golf Association which has more than 200 members today. She enjoyed traveling and playing golf, with her sister, all over the United States including Hawaii, Canada and Mexico. When she wasn’t golfing, Betty was in her office painting beautiful sunsets, golf courses and other nature scenes. Betty loved her grandchildren and never passed up a moment to teach them how to play tennis, how to golf or how to paint. She loved God more than anything else and never missed a day of church until the pandemic hit, she was a member of the Campbell Road Church Of Christ.
