Betty Jean Goodman's Obituary
Betty Jean Voss Goodman was the daughter of Elbert M. and Thelma Lee Voss. She was born in Petrolia, Texas, January 24, 1931. She grew up on a lovely farm near Sulphur Springs, Texas, where, as a young girl, she loved playing baseball with her friends. She met the love of her life, Clifton Goodman, and they married December 16, 1947, in Sulphur Springs. She and Clifton moved to Garland, Texas, in the early fifties and made Garland their home. They raised their two daughters, Sandra and Donna, in Garland. Betty was a long-time employee of Varo, Inc. For many years, she was a faithful member of the Austin Street Church of Christ. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school and presenting Bibles to her little students. Later in life, she became a member of the Buckingham Road Church of Christ where she has many good friends. She was most fortunate to be blessed with wonderful friends and neighbors. Her hobbies included quilting, sewing, gardening, reading, and travel. She was an avid Cowboys and Rangers fan. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Elbert and Thelma Voss; her sister, Virginia Voss; her brother, Edgar Voss; and her husband, Clifton Goodman. Those left behind to celebrate her life are her daughter Sandra Brush and husband, James, and her daughter Donna Richardson and husband, Rick. She had three precious grandchildren: Chris Brush and wife, Evelyn, of Nashville, Tennessee; Bryan Brush and wife, Ashley, of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Jennifer Griner of Garland, Texas. She had two great-grandchildren: Isaac Brush of Nashville and Annie Brush of Ft. Worth. Her faithful dog was Benny Goodman. Betty Jean Voss Goodman passed on to her heavenly home Monday, June 13, 2016. The visitation for Betty Goodman will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Restland Funeral Home. The service for Betty will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Buckingham Rd. Church of Christ. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
