Betty Evelyn Harris' Obituary
HARRIS, BETTY EVELYN WOODWARD passed away on July 17, 2013, in Dallas, TX. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Roger Harris; her four children: Carol Orsburn, Cynthia Harris, Chaz Harris, and John Harris; her eight grandchildren: Adrienne, Erik, Kristin, Kathryn, Lauren, Brian, Hannah, and Natalie; and her great granddaughter, Xyla. Betty Woodward was born in Birmingham, England on November 15, 1924. She and her family moved to Japan in 1930. In 1940, they were evacuated to Australia, and then to India in 1943. Betty joined the British Foreign Office in 1946, and served in India, England, Spain, and Japan. She met her future husband Roger in Tokyo, Japan, where they were married in 1951. In 1952, she and Roger moved to the United States. The family moved to Dallas, TX in 1962. Betty was a founding member of the Boadicea Chapter of the Daughters of the British Empire, and she served as Regent and other positions for many years. She was much loved by her family and friends, and will be greatly missed. A memorial mass in her memory will be held at St. Monica Catholic Church on Monday, July 22, 2013, at 2:00 PM.
