Betty Marie Kappelman's Obituary
Betty Marie Kappelman, of Wylie, Texas went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 09, 2025. She passed peacefully under the care of loved ones in her own home just as she had hoped. She was born on January 20, 1943, in Manila, Arkansas, the 10th of 13 children of Elmer D. and Viola Williams.
June 26, 1960, she married her high school sweetheart, James Ritchie Kappelman, from Lafe, Arkansas. She always said she married the most handsome boy in the school. They later moved to Shreveport, La. where their 2 children Todd Anthony and Michelle Renee were born. In 1967, they moved to Dallas, Texas where Betty met her lifelong best friend, Nellie Stulce. A couple of years later they moved to Garland, Texas and Betty worked for Texas Instruments as a successful Director of Human Resources for several decades until retirement while they raised their family. They were members of Calvary Baptist Church in Garland until they moved in 2004 to Wiley, Texas where they became involved with First Baptist Church and later The Cross Church of Wylie.
Betty was a devoted wife, doting mother, grandmother and great grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and the best mother-in-law anyone could ever wish for. She adored her children, grandson and great grandson and spent countless hours assisting them in any way she could to help them blossom and thrive.
Everyone who was blessed to get to meet Betty would say that she was upbeat, spunky, and brought humor and laughter to lighten people’s hearts whether friends or strangers. She spread that sparkle and energy everywhere she went. She was a giver and loved to support causes to help others in their time of need. Her sacrificial giving to immediate and extended family and community was an example we all should follow. She lived to serve God and follow His lead.
“I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.” (Acts 20:35)
Betty is survived by her son and daughter in law, Todd and Deanna Kappelman of Dallas, Daughter Michelle Renee Branson of Wylie, grandson Josh Branson and his father Bruce Branson and great grandson Kyland Branson of Garland, Brother Elmer Jr. (JR) Williams, of Dyersburg, Tennessee, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, Elmer D. Williams, mother, Viola (Jeter) Williams, Husband of 54 years, James Ritchie Kappelman, sister Arah Dee Irby, sister Colon “Brownie” Hayes, sister Jackie Ferguson, brother James Elmer Williams, brother Ray Williams, brother Glenn Williams, brother Johnny Williams, brother Jimmie Williams, brother Donald Williams, brother Larry Williams, and brother Howard Williams.
Betty loved God, believed that Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God and the creator of all things and lived her life following His teachings. Her prayer is for everyone to know Jesus and experience salvation.
(Philippians 2:10-11)
“10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
She looked forward to being reunited in heaven with her husband and the many loved ones who have passed on before her. She requested that “It Is Well With My Soul” be sung at her funeral.
Her family already misses her so much. This world lost a bright star, and Heaven gained a sweet soul.
