Betty Lou Bruce's Obituary
Betty L Bruce was born September 11, 1935 in Princeton, Indiana. She stepped into heaven peacefully on Friday, August 12, 2016. She moved to Farmers Branch, Texas in 1969. Betty went back to school and became an LVN in 1977. From then on, she worked primarily for Environmental Health Associates in Dallas, testing and treating patients from all over the country suffering from severe environmental allergies. In addition, she traveled to Canada on multiple occasions, to train other clinics in their techniques. In 1997 Betty retired from full-time employment, and spent the remainder of her days loving and serving her family and the shut-ins of her church. Her favorite pastimes have included, family gatherings (with many or on-on-one), playing cards or travelling with friends, Bible study, walking, feeding the birds that congregated outside her apartment, and reading. Betty is preceded in death by her parents: Ray and Genevieve Beard; her brother: Gilbert Beard; and her sister: Margaret Beard Taylor. She is survived by her brother, Ray, Jr.; son, Robert (Bobby) and wife, Caryn; son, Edward (Eddie); Six grandchildren: Aaron & wife, Liz, Amanda, Bethany, Daniel & wife, Yvette, David, and Emily & husband, Johnathon; and one Great-Grandchild: Peter William Bruce. Living out her deep faith by caring for her family, friends and others was truly her joy! A celebration of life service will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Carrollton, Texas on Saturday, August 20, at 6 PM. Reception to follow after. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243. In lieu of flowers: Donate to First United Methodist Church Member Care Fund- Carrollton, North Texas Food Bank or Feed the Children.
