Betty Lumpkin Langston's Obituary
The Lord received Betty L. Langston into his care on August 14, 2017. She was born in Clifton, TX, in 1924 to Carroll and Marie Lumpkin. She received a Bachelors degree in journalism from UT Austin and was a proud member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. She met Lewis E Langston, Jr. at Volk’s Bros. They married on Nov. 12, 1948, and raised their family in a close-knit neighborhood filled with laughter and love. Her Christian faith guided her throughout her life. She will be deeply missed by family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis E. Langston, Jr., her brother, J Edgar Lumpkin, her parents, Marie and Carroll Lumpkin, and son-in-law, Martin Steele. She is survived by her children, Stacy Griffin and husband Mark of Houston, Gay Langston of Dallas, Leslie Steele of Grand Prairie, and Lewis E. Langston, III and wife Michele of Little Rock, Arkansas; grandchildren Morgan Cave and husband Drew, Adam Griffin, Rachel Carmona and husband Jordan, Justin Steele and wife Ashton, Lacey Steele, Alexander Steele, Lindsey Langston, Courtney Langston, and Lauren Langston; and great grandchildren Hudson and Harper. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation for the care and compassion received at Baylor University Medical Center of Dallas. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held Thursday, August 17, 2017 at 3:00 pm at Highland Park Presbyterian Church, 3821 University Blvd. Dallas, TX 75205. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Body and Soul Ministry at Highland Park Presbyterian Church or to the charity of your choice.
