My fondest memories of the Mathews family is as follows:
Ray and I were at Texas A & M University, College Station during the early 70's. We were there as employees of the Oceanography Department at College Station and Galveston, Texas. Ray and I were also roommates for the duration of my stay in College Station. It was during this time that I first met Betty and Raymond, Sr.
They were a handsome couple. They had a sincere loving and giving spirit. As I grew to know them both, I felt as part of their family. They were caring, and hospitable. They knew no strangers. This continued even after I married and had a family. Betty always inquiring about the family and on a fishing trip to Corpus Christi, Ray and Betty visited our home.
We continued to keep in touch throughout the years. Of course we were saddened to hear of her passing, but Betty lived a beautiful full life.
Our heartfelt sympathy to the Mathews family,
Al, Sally and Monica Morales
