Les met Betty at the University of North Texas where they were both studying and asked her to marry him after dating only two weeks. He was captivated by her beauty, wit and charm. They enjoyed traveling the world together with family and friends and hosted many guests in their home. Betty was involved in a number of organizations including A.W.A.R.E , The Dallas Woman’s’ Club, Mes Ami, Highland Park Presbyterian Church Circle and bible study and was an active contributor to The University of North Texas. Betty’s love of her church and her lifelong friends from her Kappa Delta sorority, Lady Primrose, neighbors and organizations fulfilled her throughout her life and was especially important to her after the passing of her husband. She was a wonderful mother and we will miss her loving advice, kindness, generosity and her friendship. Betty had a number of hobbies and interests and loved to be on the go. She was an avid reader and member of a book club, loved to shop at Northpark and could outpace even her children in doing so. She had a special place in her heart for cats – her own and any other stray that happened to pass through the neighborhood. A great mystery or documentary movie was always on her list as a “must see” and she loved any social event. She loved living in her home of more than 50 years and enjoyed watching all the activity of the young families and athletes that passed by her house each day.As a mother, she always had a calm spirit and an open heart. She had a fun, silly sense of humor that particularly delighted her grandchildren. And as a wife, she had steadfast devotion to her husband and knew he was the greatest blessing in her life. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, October 10, 2016 at Highland Park Presbyterian Church in the Wynne Chapel.
