Betty Phillips McOmie's Obituary
MCOMIE, BETTY PHILLIPS passed away on November 12, 2012. Mrs. McOmie, born in Dallas on November 8, 1926, was a resident of San Antonio and a member and elder of Alamo Heights Presbyterian Church. Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rulon Wells McOmie; and brothers, Lloyd and Ed Phillips; and stepson, Bill McOmie. Betty is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jeanne and Terry Buck of New Braunfels; and daughter, Diane McOmie, of Houston. Betty was the best “Mamaw” to her granddaughter, Caitie Buck, and grandsons, Sam and Adrian Almaguer. Betty is also survived by stepdaughters, Carol Dobbs (Joe) and Mary Horn of California and many dear nieces and nephews. Betty graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas and Texas Christian University. She was a bright and talented young woman whose secretarial work eventually took her to San Francisco where set met Rulon or “Mac” as he was best known. Mac and Betty traveled the globe with Shell Oil Co. finally settling in Texas. Their last home at Canyon Lake was especially loved, and they had many friends there, particularly at St. Andrew Lutheran Church. Betty had a deep Christian faith and is now resting peacefully with her dear Lord and Savior. A memorial service will be held at Alamo Heights Presbyterian Church in San Antonio on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at 2:00 PM, Rev. Dr. Richard O. Knott, Jr. officiating. All are invited to a reception following in the Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Betty may be made to Alamo Heights Presbyterian Church, 6201 Broadway, San Antonio, TX 78209 or the Alzheimer’s Association. Graveside services will be in Dallas at 2:00 PM at Restland Memorial Park on November 16.
