Betty Jean Richard's Obituary
RICHARD, BETTY JEAN MC MILLION passed away peacefully in the arms of family and God on the afternoon of Thursday, September 27, 2012, at the age of 81. She was born in Grayson County, Texas, on December 7, 1930, to Ola Pearl Weimer and Jones Mc Million. She Married Joseph Alderic Richard on September 30, 1950, and had 2 sons Michael Dan Richard, and Ronald Renee Richard. Betty was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, mother in law, and Christian. Raising her 2 boys, she followed her husband Joseph around the world wherever the US military stationed him. Through thick and thin she never left her husbands side, and made the most out of any situation. She taught her sons how to be strong, confident, independent and productive citizens. Betty retired from Sun Oil at Dallas E&P Headquarters as a master drafter. She started off as a PBX Operator for Sun Oil at Dallas E&P Headquarters plotting oil wells on maps. Although she only had a high school diploma her fire, spunk, and determination to become top in her field served her well. Betty retired achieving her dream as a Master Drafter for Sun Oil. Betty was a beloved grandmother to Patricia, Bryan, Kathy, Matthew, Nathan, and Josh. She devoted her time teaching her grandchildren about career, mechanical, and financial skills of life. Her hobbies included dominos, personal finance, gardening, garage sale hunting, and being the best mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and friend a person ever had. Since March 2011 she was determined to fight her battle against Small Cell Lung Cancer. She lost the battle but won the war by arriving in Heaven at 1:50 PM on September 27, 2012. Her Spunky, determined, go getting, and loving personality will be greatly missed by family and friends. Survivors include her son Michael Richard, daughter-in-law Donna Richard, sisters Lurlene Bridges and Marie Laughlin, brother Jimmy Don Mc Million, and 4 grandchildren Kathy, Matthew, Nathan, and Josh Richard. Preceded in death by her husband Joseph Alderic Richard, son Ronald Renee Richard, parents Ola Pearl and Jones Mc Million, sister Maxine Smith, brother Leroy Mc Million, and 2 grandchildren Patricia Ann Richard and Bryan Douglas Richard. Visitation will be from 3:00-5:00 pm Sunday, September 30th at Restland Funeral Home. Services will be held 3:00 pm Monday, October 1st at Restland Wildwood Chapel.
