Betty Lou Simons' Obituary
BETTY LOU UPCHURCH SIMONS was born in Dallas, Texas on January 29, 1930 to Quen and Ada Upchurch. Betty grew up in Carrollton/Farmers Branch. She was a 1948 graduate of Carrollton High School where she was a varsity cheerleader and basketball player. In 1951, she met and married Rev. L.R. Simons after a six-week courtship, becoming Mrs. Betty Lou Simons. They just celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on June 29, 2010. Betty was a devoted pastor’s wife for all the days of her adult life. Together with her husband and the good Lord, they started three missionary churches; West Forest Lane Baptist Church in Dallas, Belaire Baptist Church in Carrollton, and Fellowship Baptist Church in Lewisville, Texas. Betty is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Lois Ray Simons, her three children and their spouses: Debbie D. Simons-Smith and husband Bill, Terry Ray Simons and wife Glenda, and Theresa A. Simons-Patterson and husband Crockett; grandchildren, Jason Tutrow, Scott Simons, Cody Smith, Blake Patterson, Dallas Patterson, Jeffrey Patterson, and Kaleigh Simons; great-grandchildren, Haleigh Tutrow, Avery Tutrow, Colton Patterson, Jack Simons, and Caycee Patterson; and her extended family, Lauren Patterson and Kate Simons. She is joined in Heaven by a little angel, her great grandson, Coleman Tutrow, and is surrounded by all her brothers, sisters, parents and a lifetime of born again Christian relatives and friends. She will be truly missed, but will continue to live in our hearts until eternity.
