Betty Ellen Simpson's Obituary
SIMPSON, BETTY ELLEN (HARTER) passed away on June 15, 2011, at St. Catherine’s Village in Madison, MS, where she had been a resident the past 5 years. She was born Betty Ellen Harter in Enid, OK, on June 23, 1916, to parents, Jim and Ruth Harter. She was a graduate of Enid High School and attended Oklahoma College for Women. Betty moved to Dallas in 1952 with her husband, Dale, who passed away in 2006. They enjoyed a married life exceeding 66 years. She was a homemaker who raised two sons; Richard Simpson of Rockwall, TX, and Douglas Simpson (wife Judy) of Jackson, MS. She was an active member of University Park Methodist Church in Dallas and enjoyed volunteer work, sewing, reading and participated in numerous luncheon clubs. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband and two sisters. She is survived by three grandchildren; Rachel Giampaolo (husband Michael) of Pawtucket, RI, Tracey Jarrard (husband Trey) of Arlington, VA, and Mark Simpson of Jackson, MS. She is further survived by one great-grandson and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 25, at 10:00 a.m., at Restland Memorial Park.
