Betty Jo Venable's Obituary
Betty Jo Secrest Venable, born on September 26, 1922 in Wynnewood, OK and passed away August 19, 2020 in Dallas, TX.
She was preceded in death by Jack C. Venable, her husband of 70 years (Dallas, TX). She is survived by daughters Betty Grabow (Dallas, TX) and Vicki Morgan (El Dorado, AR); son-in-law Harry Morgan (El Dorado, AR); grandson Jonathan Morgan (Dallas, TX); and nieces, nephews, and cousins
Betty, aged 97, passed away peacefully in her sleep. She was born to Samuel H. Secrest and Carrie Norwood Secrest. She was their youngest child with two older sisters Ruth Gladys Secrest Cason and Era Jean Secrest Pate Boettger.
Betty and Jack met on the train in late 1942 and wrote many letters to each other while he served in the Army during WWII. They married on February 6, 1943, after five dates during a one week military leave.
Betty was musical most of her life. She, Jack, and many Sunday School class members of White Rock Methodist Church formed a singing group “Guys and Dolls”. They performed in costume at many functions all around Dallas.
She will rest next to Jack in Restland Cemetery. Betty will be missed by her loving family including nieces, nephews, cousins and of course her immediate family.
