Bettygene Dunigan's Obituary
Bettygene Dunigan passed away peacefully at age 100 on October 15, 2022.
Bettygene was born on November 8, 1921, in Streetman, Texas to William E. and Dona Pearl McKissack. She attended Crozier Tech and SMU in Dallas, Texas. She met Louis Dunigan on a blind date, and he became the love of her life. She worked for 25 years as Executive Secretary at Bankers Commercial Life before retiring. Bettygene enjoyed playing bridge, traveling, dancing, reading, and she loved watching the Dallas Cowboysl She and Lou were a remarkable dance team in their day and the dance floor would empty so people could watch them. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her family and loving them.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Louis J. Dunigan, her brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Alice McKissack, and Billy and Margaret McKissack, and her parents. She will forever live in the hearts of her children, Betty Lou and Dan, and their spouses Chip and Vicki; her grandchildren, Dan, Darin, Shelli and Sean along with their spouses, Debra, Tabatha, Brett, and Kristen; 10 great grandchildren, Layne, Leah, Luke Yarbrough, Ethan, Ivan, Micah Yarbrough, Kian and Elleri Cassel, and Drew and Dylan Dunigan, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, October 23, 2022, at Restland Funeral Home. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 24, 2022, at Restland Wildwood Chapel. In lieu of flowers, please donate to one of the following or to your favorite charity:
