Beverly Jean Dotson passed away on April 17, 2018 at her daughter’s home in Davis, California. She was born May 27, 1926 in Shreveport, LouisianaShe was preceded in death by her first husband, Col W.T. Whisner of Shreveport, La, and her second husband, Cecil P. Dotson of Dallas, Texas, and stepdaughter, Rita Dotson of Dallas, Texas.Beverly is survived by, Daughter Anna Lynn Dayton, Grandchildren David and Tapati Dayton, great granddaughter Morgaine Dayton, and great-great-grandson Dante Collins.Stepchildren, Sugie Dotson Poteet and Glenn Dotson, Grandchildren Robin Dawsey, Alison and Christina Cline, Mandy Medaris and Kim Dotson, and great grandchildren, Madelyn, Molly and Max Medaris.Services will be at the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Cemetery, May 12, 2018 at 12:30 to. A reception will follow the services at the Restland Cemetery Event Center.Beverly was born and grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana, the daughter of Wayland Gill Alfred of Lampassas Texas and Anna Amelia Snyder of Shreveport. She was married for more than 20 years to Col. William T Whisner of Shreveport, a jet ace from both WWÎI and Korea. After the dissolution of her first marriage she was working at the Bank of America in Dallas while studying to be a high school English teacher. She met Cecil P. Dotson, World War II veteran and Senior Vice President at Texas Instruments. They found with each other the kind of joyful partnership that is rare in this world, and lived a happily-ever-after romance for thirty-nine years. Beverly served as an elegant, generous, and attentive stand-in matriarch for the Dotson family, beloved by three generations. In 2010 Cecil preceded Beverly into heaven where they are surely now reunited.Anyone wanting to view a symbolic presentation of Beverly’s life need only watch her favorite movie, Naughty Marietta (1935) with Nelson Eddy and Jeanette MacDonald.
