Beverly Ann Hoskins' Obituary
Beverly Ann Hoskins was born 4/14/1944 in Tulsa Oklahoma to parents Dr. Glen C Hoskins and Marcelle Douglass. She is survived by her sister Kay, daughters Tracy and Diane, grandson Duke, extended family, former husband and best friend, Philip. Beverly attended University Park Elementary, Richardson High(class of 62), Southern Methodist University, (class of 66), graduating with a Bachelor’s of Arts in English, later becoming certified to teach in 1968. After a brief career as a junior high school teacher she served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War receiving the National Defense Service Medal and honorably discharged in 1976. While in the Navy she and her daughter lived in San Diego, the Great Lakes of Illinois, and Indianapolis where her second daughter was born. She lived in the San Francisco Bay area for 19 years while she raised her daughters working within the Unified School District and at Chabot college. Beverly returned to Dallas in 1998 and met her former husband Philip. She spent her final years in Naples Florida passing at the age of 80. Beverly was a colorful and creative spirit! She loved the finer things in life and tried to create beauty wherever she lived. She was a true artist, ceramicist, painter, craftswoman, and studied interior design. A gentle and compassionate soul she connected with animals, the ocean, her dog Beau, and deeply cared about people she may have had a single conversation with. She was adventurous , curious about cultures foreign to her, loved to explore new traditions and foods with trips to Russia and Alaska. Her sense of humor loved a good belly laugh Beverly’s need to find unity with God and emotional balance led her on a seeker’s journey willing to practice meditation and study eastern and western faiths. Her ability to reinvent herself was her superpower and the preservation of her autonomy, her mission.
