Beverly (Bev) Sue Brooks' Obituary
Beverly (Bev) Sue Brooks of Richardson, Texas, died of complications from diabetes on December 1, 2014 at her home in Richardson. She is preceded in death by her sister, Becky Jo Brooks. Bev was born in Taylorville, Illinois on August 17, 1948 to the late James Finley Brooks Sr. and late Anita Carrie (Krueger) Brooks. Bev spent her younger years growing up in Taylorville, attending local schools, working at Brooks’ Drive Inn, the family restaurant, and also worked at the First National Bank of Taylorville. She graduated from Taylorville Senior High School in 1966 and then went on to graduate from the University of Illinois, Champaign. In 1975 Bev married Randy Durham of Genoa, Illinois and soon they re-located to Richardson, Texas, where she spent over 30 years working for the Department of Justice in Dallas, Texas serving as Bankruptcy Analyst and Chapter 7 Trustee. They later divorced and she did not have any children. Bev is survived by her sisters, Barbara Bobbe Brooks Long (Robert) and Brenda Kay Brooks Tannahill (Al) and her brother, James Finley Brooks, Jr. (Patricia), as well as several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Bev was of the Lutheran faith and was a confirmed member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Taylorville, Illinois. Bev lived a very active life, traveling frequently and had visited Alaska and London, England. She spent time camping, boating, and gardening at her home and kept a very full social schedule among her many friends in the Dallas area. It was Bev’s wishes to be cremated and to not have a formal funeral service. A memorial service for Bev will be at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 in The Abbey Chapel at Restland Funeral Home.
