Bill Everett Cozart's Obituary
Bill Everett Cozart was born on February 27, 1926, in Celina, Texas, and passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2024, in Dallas, Texas, shortly after his 98th birthday celebration. He was the son of the late David R. Cozart (77) and the late Leona Wester-Cozart (99). Bill is preceded in death by his wife Loretta M. Cozart, his daughter Linda Sue Cozart Vandeveer, and his son-in-law Lee Vandeveer.
A graveside service will be held for Bill on Friday, March 22nd, 2024 at Restland Funeral Home’s Garden of Holy Trinity where he will be laid to rest alongside his wife and daughter. Bill Cozart, Corporal in the United States Army served with distinction as an aerial gunner with the 529th Air Service Group in the European Theater during World War II and subsequently in the motor pool of the military police. After the war, he married his love, Loretta Gill. They moved back to Texas and the pride of his life, Linda Sue “Susie” was born in 1950. He made sure she could go to any university she wanted, and she followed her passion as a Kilgore Rangerette and then graduated from SMU. A car enthusiast, he went to buy her a car; but he was so proud to tell the story how she was so successful she bought herself! He could tell you every car they ever owned, each with its own story. He achieved national accolades as a car salesman. Nascar was a big hobby, attending several Daytona 500 races! Bill, Loretta, and Susie enjoyed the rich traditions of Lake Highlands where they called home. Bill and Loretta even chaperoned the infamous Lake Highlands Highlandettes a couple years when Susie performed with them around the state. Bill and Loretta called White Rock Court home 10 years ago where he has benefited from so many who loved and supported him til the Lord rejoined him with his loved ones on March 9th, 2024 just after celebrating his 98th birthday.
