Bill Day's Obituary
Bill Day, Devoted Christian, Loving Father, American Veteran God took Bill Day, 82, of Wylie, Texas, home to heaven Friday, March 18th, after a brief illness. Bill Day was born in Birmingham, Alabama, on March 5, 1929, to Vance and Pauline Day. He is preceded into heaven his parents and sister, Sharon Davis. As a devoted, loving father, he is survived by son Richard Day and his wife, Kelly, of Garland, son Russell Day, his wife, Leslie, of Wylie, and daughter Alison Young, her husband, Ray, of Rowlett; and grandchildren Elise Young, Austin Day and Reid Young. After graduating from Woodlawn High School, he entered the United States Air Force and served from 1947 to 1950. He achieved a ranking of Airman First Class in the 512th Bomb Squadron. His love for aeronautics led him into the United States space program working at the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, as a senior design engineer from 1959 to 1969. He moved his family to Texas in 1969 where he worked as an Engineering Draftsman for LTV and United States Steel (Oilwell Supply in Garland) before retiring. His hobbies included music, dancing and woodworking. He was also an avid Alabama Crimson Tide and Dallas Cowboys fan. He was an active member of Lavon Drive Baptist Church. Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, March 22nd, at Restland Funeral Home from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Memorial service is scheduled for Wednesday, March 23rd, at 10 a.m. in the Wildwood Chapel at Restland. He will be laid to rest at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. He will be known as a devoted Christian, a loving father and an American veteran throughout eternity.
