Billie Jean Bennett's Obituary
Mrs. Billie Jean Bennett was born on October 4, 1929 in Dallas, Texas to mother Mamie Marie Moncrief and father John Hannan. She married the love and only love of her life, Roy L. Bennett, and had 3 wonderful children, 3 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren that gave her a full life before she entered into rest on November 30, 2022, in Dallas, Texas.
Billie was a beautiful and strong independent woman who lived and took care of herself until the very end. She was the matriarch of our family and will be sorely missed. She worked for 20 years as the treasurer of First Presbyterian Church of Garland. Billie was always envied for her style and classic grace and beauty. Billie developed diabetes in her later years and took control of it as she did everything in her life, with seriousness and an exacting grace. She definitely had her opinions about the current political and social climate and expressed them with a dry humor that was passed down with the few who were lucky enough to be close to her. She was not an easy person to know. Often intimidating, not by her intentions but her own guards that she put up. For those of us lucky enough to know her, she was always transparent on her thoughts and backed them with rational facts. She is what we proudly refer to as a broad shouldered broad with a relentless loyalty to her family. She had a tender heart for anyone less fortunate than herself. Billie’s family has many inside jokes of her love for half a Snickers bar and how she would often turn a side eye to those of us overindulging but loving us all the same.
Billie is survived by her daughters Sue Ashenhart and her loving husband, Bill Ashenhart, Pat Stogsdill and her just as loving husband, Ronnie Stogsdill, and son Charles Bennett. She is also survived by her grandchildren Amy Patrick, Chris Gifford & Jordan Stogsdill and his caring wife Carmen. Billie had four beautiful great grandchildren in her life, Isabelle Kirby, Gwendolyn Burchill and Holden & Cooper Stogsdill. She was preceded in death by her one and only true love, Roy, and grandson Brian who was taken from her family and her son Charles way too soon.
Billie will be sincerely missed by her loving family, devoted friends, and all the wonderful individuals who knew and loved her.
