Billie Joan Brown's Obituary
Billie Joan Brown passed away peacefully at her home in Elgin, Texas on January 3, 2025, surrounded by love. She was born and raised in Austin, Texas. where she met and married the love of her life, Robert "Bob" Brown. Together, they shared 71 wonderful years of marriage and raised three children.
Joan was co- owner of Walraven Book Cover Company, where she worked alongside her husband until retirement. A passionate traveler, Joan fulfilled her dream of visiting all 50 states, often on antique hunts or in search of fine crystal. She was a longtime and devoted member of the First Christian Church of Plano where she cherished her faith and community.
She was predeceased by her two beloved sons, Randy and AI. Joan is survived by her husband, Bob; her daughter Cheryl Schmoyer (Alan); her grandchildren, Michael (Amy), Nick (Marie) and Kati (Will); Her sister, Brenda Dismuke (Richard); Her nephew Richie Dismuke (Liz), niece Deborah Dismuke, and her cherished great-grandchildren - two great- granddaughters and three great - grandsons.
Joan's memory will live on as a blessing to all who knew her. Her legacy of love, strength, and kindness will continue to inspire and comfort those she leaves behind.
A visitation will be held at Restland Funeral Home on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 9:00 am. Following the visitation there will be a graveside service at 11:00 am.
