Billie Jean Cureton's Obituary
CURETON, BILLIE JEAN JENKINS On May 14, 2014 Billie Jean Jenkins Cureton died peacefully in her sleep, “old and full of years” at age 89, faithfully cared for by hospice and staff at The Gardens of Richardson where she had lived for three years. Throughout her life Jean never failed to charm everyone she met, from Spanish-speaking workmen (having grown up in the Rio Grande valley she was fluent in Spanish and loved to speak it at any opportunity) to dignitaries she met through her husband’s business. Up to her very last day she took a genuine interest in everyone around her, whether it was a momentary encounter or a lifelong friendship. If you asked her about the highlights of her life, she would tell you she loved being a pilot and having her own plane when she was in her 20’s. She also loved being the business manager at her father’s automobile dealership in Harlingen, Texas where she grew up. Her parents were always central in her life, and once married to Allen her sphere of caring expanded to include her husband, daughter, and eventually granddaughters. Jean was keenly interested in genealogy, which led to memberships in the Daughters of the Republic of Texas and the Chickasaw Nation. She was proud to be a graduate of Mary Hardin-Baylor University, with degrees in Business and Speech, and was a loyal member of First Baptist Church Dallas since the 1960s. She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Cureton Moser and husband Rick Moser; and granddaughters, Mindy Moser Nitcher and Katherine Moser. Graveside service will be held for family and friends at 10:30 AM, Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Restland Memorial Park.
