Billie Ramsire Harris' Obituary
Billie Ramsire Harris is a degreed and trained registered nurse in both clinical and community health. As a trained registered nurse, Harris has gained a wealth of knowledge and experience in the health care field. Harris’ responsibilities and work history includes treating and educating patients and the public about various medical conditions, providing advice and emotional support to patients’ family members, recording patients’ medical histories and symptoms, helping perform diagnostic test, analyzing results, operating medical machinery, administering treatment and medications and helping with patient follow-up and rehabilitation. In addition to general patient care such as starting, maintaining and discontinuing IV lines (for fluid, medicine, blood), administering therapies and treatments, explaining post-treatment home care needs of self-medication, nutrition etc., Harris has gained valuable insight in the medical profession from years of working alongside and consulting with physicians and other health care clinicians. Harris has worked as a registered nurse in the health care field for over 30 years. After graduating from college with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing, Harris began her career at Parkland Hospital in Dallas where she received state of the art medical training. There she worked with patients from various communities, challenges and economic levels. A short time later, her training and quest for varied experiences, increase knowledge and opportunities prompted a move to Baylor Hospital of Dallas and later to the Visiting Nursing Association of Dallas. These important career moves not only increased her medical experience but fueled her passion and desire to help the community by providing the best possible health care and treatment that she could. Harris returned to graduate school to study Community Health Education. She was named Who’s Who Among American University Students as she graduated with her Master’s of Science Degree in Nursing. A short time later, Harris’ career took her to the Veteran’s Administration Hospital of Dallas and later with a move to a Veteran’s Administration Hospital in California. There she worked in the hospital, clinic and in the community as a home care nurse. Harris held the distinguished honor of being a member of the National Honor Society, Who’s Who Among High School Students, Who’s Who Among University Students, and Honor Graduate of High School, College and Graduate School. She holds a Bachelors of Science in Nursing and a Master’s of Science in Nursing.
