Billie L. Jarvis' Obituary
Billie Sue Langley Jarvis was born August 22, 1927 and entered eternal life on Thursday, April 7, 2016. Her spirit is carried on by her two surviving children Diane Tubbs and Donna Slane, their spouses Driskoll Tubbs and Edward Slane and daughter-in-law Phyllis Jarvis. She is in heaven with her oldest child, Dean Jarvis and the love of her life, Dwight Jarvis. Our mother taught us right from wrong, to be kind to others and to always look at the sale rack first. Having grown up during the Depression, Mom taught us to not be wasteful and to do our best with what we had. She instilled in us her love of music, both vocal and instrumental. She (as the singer) and our Dad (as the trumpet player) were married while on the road with a small jazz band before settling down to raise a family. She later used her musical talent in church choirs. Mom also shared with us her love for movies, especially the old classics and musicals. Our mother could be very funny and had a great sense of humor. She loved to laugh, and as the saying goes, Mom “never met a stranger.” She would chat with people in the local market and make new friends. We have many memories of her playing peek-a-boo with a child in the local grocery store. Mom loved children and dearly loved her four granddaughters: Shannon Slane, Kelly Slane, Denise Tubbs and Jade Jarvis, and was very proud of each one. We are blessed that she enjoyed seeing them grow up into strong young women. There will be a visitation at Restland on Friday, April 15 from 5 – 7 pm. The Funeral Service will be held at 12:30 pm on Saturday, April 16 in the Wildwood Chapel at Restland. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
