Billie Joe Montgomery's Obituary
Billie Joe Montgomery, 93, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 28, 2020, in Carrollton, Texas. He was born on November 2, 1926, to his loving and thoughtful parents, J.D. Montgomery and Vivian Inez Montgomery in Wichita Falls, TX. Billie Joe Montgomery will be sincerely missed by his loving family, his devoted friends and all the wonderful individuals who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by wife Dixie, parents J.D. and Inez Montgomery, brother Glen Montgomery.
He is survived by sons Monty Montgomery(wife Cathy), Ron Montgomery(wife Kay), granddaughters Sadie O'Connor(husband Chris), Shaun McBride(husband Blaine), Erin Montgomery, great grandsons Chase O'Connor, Cade McBride, great granddaughter Camryn McBride
Bill joined th U.S. Navy at 17 and served in the Pacific campaign from 1944 until the war ended in 1945. He then returned to Wichita Falls and married his wife Dixie on June 29, 1946. They remained happily married 72 years until her death in 2018.
In 1953 the family moved to Abilene, TX working at Callaways Tile Company where he worked his way up to part owner and president of the company. In 1969 they moved to Dallas, TX where he worked as a regional sales manager for the GAF/ Tarkett company until his retirement in 1993. Bill and Dixie enjoyed numerous trips out of the U.S. as well as miles of travel trailer excursions in the states. He was a great husband, father, grandfather and great great grandfather, known as PawPaw. He loved to work in the yard, hunt, fish. Bill was also a proficient builder and renovator, building his own RV, lake cabins, and multiple remodeling projects along with woodcrafting.
Graveside service will be held Saturday, February 8, 2020 at 10:30 AM in the Memorial Park at Restland Funeral Home located at 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, Texas 75243
