So sorry to hear of Bill’s death. We were friends in the 70’s and had lost contact – always intended to get in touch which reminds me to not neglect staying in touch with friends. He was among a group of several Richardson school personnel and friends as we experienced our first attempt on the snow – 1972 Ruidoso. He was a great, fun guy but serious when it came to his job. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
First knowledge I had of Mr.Atkins, was when I saw him as football coach of RHS when games were played at the old Greenville ave stadium in the early 60’s and later he lived three houses from us on Brookwood drive ,he was a Texan from the word go and was a stand up kind of man….i enjoyed our talks we would have on our chance meetings at Kroger or KFC…he will be missed…
Thanks so much Coach for all the young men you have influenced over your life as an educator as well as a coach.
I grew up just hoping I could play for you someday. I did get to coach in RISD while you were AD and will cherish those days. You were always fair to all of us, and made sure we had what we needed to be successful.
