I can remember my dad, Dave Shuffler, and Bill jokes and laughing when they were together.
We just learned today, Oct. 12th, of the passing of Billy Ballard. How sad. He was a friend and co-worker of ours at the Dallas Sheriff's Department and as a member of the Dallas County Sheriff's Association. He was one of the good guys. Like a lot of retirees we've lost touch with others. But, we didn't lose the memories. Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Ballard. James Cron, Lieutenant, Dallas Sheriff's Dept. (retired) Patsy McMillan, Asst. Chief Deputy, Dallas Sheriff's Dept. (retired)
Tonya, While I never met your dad, I do know you. You are a lasting tribute to your dad as he has a daughter who is loving and compassionate; who truly cares for others. Those attributes just don't happen. I'm so sorry for your loss. Your dad was quite a man as he was willing to give of himself, sacrifically, as a Marine. That, by itself, tells me much!
Tonya, Although it's difficult today to see beyond the sorrow, may looking back in memory help comfort you tomorrow. Psalm 23:4 "Yea, though I walk through the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for though art with me; thy rod and thy staff the comfort me."
Tonya, I am praying that you will stay strong during this time and remember the "happy times" with your dad! It was certainly a pleasure to know Billy Ballard and experience his great sense of human. He truly enjoyed life and made a positive difference in the lives that he touched! Love you much always! Estelle Brooks
I will always remember the fun and jokes Bill and I had when Tonya and I were staying in Tyler monitoring charter schools. Never forget the "dirty drawers" fun! Rest in peace Bill, you deserve it!
Tonya, my deepest sympathies. So sorry for the loss of your father.
I am keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers. It is a difficult time, Tonya, but know you are loved and we will support you in any way that we can. Audrey
I never had the privilege of meeting Bill Ballard, but from what I have heard, I would have been charmed. I do know he had friends and family that were devoted to him. He will be missed.
