Billy Floyd Borden's Obituary
BORDEN, BILLY FLOYD 82, lifelong resident of Texas, died Monday, September 12, 2011 in Irving after a lengthy battle with cancer. Born July 11, 1929 in Mount Vernon, Texas to Vivian and Grace Colley Borden, the family moved to Dallas where he attended high school. Bill worked on a seismograph crew in Wyoming where me met and married his first wife, Patty Addison. Upon their return to Texas he worked for Manor Baking and for Wyatt Food Stores. Bill later was a pillar of the automotive industry in and around Irving, Grand Prairie and Carrolton owning and running several automotive shops. Bill’s favorite past time was “digging bottles” and collecting antiques (or rather anything old). He had a story to share about each and every item in his collection. He was featured on Texas’ 4 Country Reporter for his unusual hobby of digging bottles in old abandoned landfills and old home sites. He is survived by his second wife, Betty Jo Borden of Irving, son and daughter in law, David and Susan Borden of Keller, daughter and son in law, Shelly and Hotch Van Blarcum of Prosper, granddaughters, Connie Wells of Garland and Tiffany Ogletree and family of Prosper, grandson, “Hotchie” Van Blarcum of Prosper, and 5 great grandchildren, his brother Max Borden and wife Polly of Arizona, stepsons, A.W. Reeder and family of Seagoville and Ben Reeder and wife of DeSoto. He is also survived by a host of nieces, great niece, cousins and extended family and friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, and wife of 52 years Pat “Graw” Borden and brother in law, Rodney Addison. Visitation with family and friends will be one hour prior to the service at Oak View Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm September 15, 2011, Thursday at Oak View Baptist Church in Irving with Pastors Jim Gerlach and Wallace Philpot officiating. Interment will follow at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas.
