Billy W. Brewster's Obituary
Age 85, of Garland Texas passed away May 24, 2008 after a brief illness. His wife Irene, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were by his side. Bill was born on the family homestead in Powderly, Texas to Mary and Larkin Bruster. He joined the Texas National Guard at a young age and retired from the United States Air Force as a Senior Master Sergeant. He served in Europe during World War II as a B-24 gunner, and as an intelligence specialist during the occupation of Japan and the Korean and Vietnamese conflicts. Upon retirement from the military he began a second career with Texas Instruments in their security department, and retired as a supervisor who was well thought of by those that worked with him. Before his second retirement he enjoyed working on his small farm in east Texas, where he kept horses for the enjoyment of his children and grandchildren. In his later years he passed his time by doting on his wife Irene, and watching the Rangers on TV. There will be a visitation from 6 until 8 PM Tuesday May 27th and funeral services will be Wednesday the 28th at 12:30 PM. Both will be at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas. He was preceded in death by wife Gladyne Ratliff Brewster, and sister Melba Bruster Boatwright. He is survived by his wife Irene, his daughters Mary Poole and husband Howard MSgt. USMC (ret.), Pat Manuel and husband Mike, and son D.M. Brewster SMSgt and wife Beth, stepdaughter Glenda Wallis and husband Marvin, and stepsons, Johnnie Taylor and wife Alice, Dock Taylor and wife Judy, as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
