Billy Lane McDonald's Obituary
Billy never met a stranger. A lover of the arts, trumpeter, ad man & journalist, nature lover and all-around fun and interesting guy. Billy wasn’t afraid to try something new and was always eager to help someone in need. He will be missed by so many. A 60-year Dallas resident, he died peacefully May 31, 2017 at his apartment on the CC Young campus of liver cancer. He was 88. Born in Galveston, Texas on October 16, 1928 to Paul Herod McDonald and Mary Edna Fancher. Billy is survived by 4 children, Susan and Ricky McDonald, Jeanette Boettcher and husband Bruce, and Sheryl Wallace and husband John; 8 grandchildren, Jennifer Petty, Michael Harvanek and wife Deena, Evan Klose, Kathrin McDonald, Andrea Lin and husband Robert, Katie Boettcher, David and Cara Weempe; and 5 great-grandchildren. He also had 2 step-children and 3 step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by wife Patricia A. Mandell McDonald and Betty J. McDonald Mathis. Please join us for his Celebration of Life Memorial Service on Saturday, July 29 at 3 pm at First Unitarian Church of Dallas, 4015 Normandy Ave. Donations may be made to the church, VITAS Hospice or to cancer research.
