Billy Bob Layfield's Obituary
Billy Bob Layfield died peacefully at home on December 25, 2015 in Leonard, Texas at the age of 87. Bill is survived by Wife, Billie Hamlin Layfield; children, Cliff Layfield and Mike Layfield; daughter in law, Margie Layfield; sister, Bettie Layfield, granddaughters, Megan Layfield Hoberg and Mallory Layfield also Dana Michelle Layfield and grandson, Neaidrus Layfield. He is preceded in death by his parents, Chester Troxell Layfield and Vera Gladys Duncan Layfield, his brother, Chester Troxell Layfield Jr. and his son Larry Layfield. Bill was born on August 30, 1928 in Decatur, Texas to Chester Troxell Layfield and Vera Gladys Duncan Layfield. He graduated from Adamson High School in 1945. He married Billie Louise Hamlin in 1948. Bill began working for Sears & Roebuck. He eventually got into the service station business. After he retired from the service station business he started his second career as a mail carrier in Blue Ridge Texas. The couple welcomed 3 children into their home. His children remember him as a kind, gentle, and patient father who encouraged them to pursue their goals. He was an active and dedicated member of the Pike Baptist Church where he was a deacon. Family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Blue Ridge Baptist Church. A funeral is scheduled for December 30, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at Blue Ridge Baptist Church, with a reception preceding the service. Burial will be at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas. Don Brown will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Bill’s life. The family would like to thank the fantastic people from Hospice for their efforts, care, and dedication as well all the many friends who have expressed their sympathy. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Pike Baptist Church in his name would be greatly appreciated.
